SKOLL FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES TWO NEW APPOINTMENTS

SAN JOSE, California - October 17, 2003 - The Skoll Foundation today announced two key additions to its team that are designed to strengthen the organization at a time of accelerated growth.

In her new role as Director of Operations and Planning, Joyce Dickerson is responsible for finance and investments, business planning, information technology, human resources and administration. She brings more than 15 years of experience in strategy, partnerships and general management in both the for-profit and nonprofit arenas, most recently as Executive Director of a nonprofit reading program called YES Reading. She was previously with McKinsey & Co. and has held senior management positions at PowerMarket, Pacific Bell Internet, Apple Computer Latin America and Alpargatas in Argentina.

Will Morgan, who has been appointed Program Officer, is responsible for the execution of the foundation's grantmaking programs. Before joining the Skoll Foundation, he was Program Officer at International Development Enterprises in Denver, Colorado, managing the distribution of irrigation devices to poor, rural farmers in Africa, Asia and Haiti. He previously worked at Chemonics International in Washington, D.C., where he helped assemble consulting teams and prepare bids for U.S.-funded development projects in Latin America.

Sally Osberg, President and CEO, said, "We welcome Joyce and Will at a time when the Skoll Foundation is growing rapidly, innovating and implementing new strategies. They will be instrumental in helping the foundation transform communities around the world in significant and lasting ways."

Headquartered in San Jose, California, the Skoll Foundation was originally created in 1999 as a public charity by Jeff Skoll, the first employee and first president of eBay. In 2002 Skoll launched a second charitable entity, a private foundation, which is also known as the Skoll Foundation. Both organizations were founded to achieve the same purpose; together, they advance systemic change to benefit communities around the world by investing in, connecting and celebrating social entrepreneurs. Today, the combined assets of both foundations stand at approximately $300 million. For more information, visit www.skollfoundation.org
